A. SIE was founded by the SIE group that operates the Shepherd School of Language (SSL) in USA. SSL is a large ESL institution that has permission from the U.S. Immigration Bureau to issue I-20 to students and is located in Dallas, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada. SSL located in Dallas, TX has the Curriculum Development Center to support the English curriculum of SIE.
A. Fall term starts in September and spring term starts in February. Anyone can apply regardless of the nationality. Applicants should pass written tests for English and math and the interviews by a faculty teacher followed by the academic director in order to be enrolled. They should also submit transcripts for the last two years. Students may choose to sit in for one day upon request.
A. Academic Class hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. followed by ACA’s until 4:05 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Classes are largely divided into two groups, regular classes and ESL classes, depending on the level of students. HS students from the ninth grade onward will be scheduled according to SIE graduation credit requirements.
A. The number of students per class is ranged from 5 to 20, and the current student to teacher ratio is 5:1. In the lower grades of elementary,
teaching assistants are provided depending on the number of students.
A. Most teachers have either a teacher's certificate and/or a bachelor's or a master's degree in the subject they teach, so teachers have expertise in their teaching subject.
A. To provide high-quality, nutritious meals, we offer low-sodium meals prepared on-site in our own kitchen and cafeteria. SIE students receive lunch and morning/afternoon snacks every day. Under the leadership and guidance of a qualified, Korean and international institution experienced nutritionist, three cooks prepare and serve nutritious and high-quality meals using freshly sourced ingredients daily.
A. SIE has been accredited by A.I. and NCPSA in 2018 and is expected to be accredited by MSA-CESS in 2019. In addition, SIE acquired candidacy statue from AdvancED accreditation and expect to become fully accredited by mid-2019.
A. SIE boasts the some of the best facilities among international educational institutions in Seoul and has a student to teacher ratio of 5:1. Our classes are tailored to each student’s academic level. Since students are fully immersed in English at all times, their English skills tend to improve very quickly. Our curriculum is more than academic. We also focus on guiding our students to grow and mature mentally, physically, artistically, and spiritually in a holistic manner to maximize the achievement and success of our students.
Recently, we have invited international education experts to establish a more systematic and competitive international program. In addition, we’ve brought in professional college guidance consulting experts for students to get the best assistance for college acceptance. A. We operate out of a seven-story facility with an additional two-basement floors. The number of classrooms on each floor is between 6 and 8. The building is purpose-built with two indoor gymnasiums, an auditorium, science lab, computer lab, library, music room, art room, ballet/dance studio, etc. We boast one of the largest facilities among international educational institutions in Seoul.
